Does this need a special electrical supply?

No. The manufacturer's own specification gives 110 to 120V at 60Hz, drawing 10.2 A at a rated 830 W. That is a standard Canadian household socket. Give it its own outlet rather than sharing a circuit with other heavy appliances.

Why is the SACC rating 5,000 when the title says 8,000?

They are two different tests of the same machine. ASHRAE measures in fixed laboratory conditions, SACC is the seasonally adjusted method, and Danby notes SACC is generally lower. The 230 sq ft coverage is matched to the SACC number.

What size window does it need?

The suggested window width is 22.5 to 42 inches, which is narrower at both ends than most kits in this range. Measure the opening before ordering, and note that crank out casement windows need a panel made to size.

Is it a single hose or a dual hose unit?

Single hose, as the manufacturer states. That means it draws the air it exhausts from inside the room, which slightly lowers indoor pressure and pulls warm air back in around doors. GE Appliances describes the same effect, and a snug window seal is the practical fix.
