A humidifier with a simple on switch runs until the tank empties. In a closed bedroom overnight that pushes the humidity well past comfortable, and the result is condensation on the window and a damp feeling by morning.

Auto mode watches the reading and steps down as the room comes up: high and warm below 40%, medium and cool from 40% to 60%, low and cool to 70%, and it stops spraying above that. You can still override the mist type by hand.

What auto mode actually decides

Four steps, and the machine picks between them from the room reading. Under 40% it runs high and warm. Between 40% and 60% it drops to medium and switches to cool. Between 60% and 70% it goes to low. Above 70% it stops spraying altogether. That last step is the one that matters in a closed bedroom overnight.

Sixty hours from one fill

The tank holds 9 L, which the manufacturer also prints as 2.4 gallons, and on the low setting that is 60 hours of continuous mist. Rated coverage is 540 sq ft, so this is a room machine rather than a whole floor one. On the high setting it puts out 350 ml an hour, which empties the tank considerably faster.

Two nozzles, and both rotate

One nozzle throws the mist at 30 degrees, which suits a machine standing beside a bed or a desk where you want the plume going sideways. The other sends it straight up, for a room where it can mix on the way down. Both turn through 360 degrees, so you can aim the plume away from a wall or a bookcase.

Warm mist at 45C (113F) or cool mist at 25C (77F), switchable by hand or chosen for you by auto mode.

Is this a dehumidifier?

No, it is a humidifier, which is the opposite. It adds moisture to dry air, which is what most Canadian homes need in winter when the heating is running. A dehumidifier removes moisture, which is what a damp basement needs in spring and summer.

What humidity should I aim for?

Health Canada advises keeping a home between 30% and 50% relative humidity. This machine adjusts from 45% to 90%, so the bottom of its range is the part you want. Auto mode helps here: it drops to a low cool mist between 60% and 70% and stops spraying above 70%, so it will not keep pushing a closed room into condensation territory.

When would I use warm mist rather than cool?

Warm mist at 45C raises the room temperature very slightly and is what auto mode chooses when the air is driest, below 40%. Cool mist at 25C is the default the rest of the time and uses less power, with the manufacturer quoting 25W for cool mist running. You can switch between them by hand at any point.

How big a room does it suit?

The manufacturer rates it at 540 sq ft, which is a bedroom, a nursery or a home office. For an open plan floor you would want something larger. The 9 L tank runs 60 hours on the low setting, and considerably less at the 350 ml per hour high setting.
