Can one unit really cool 350 sq ft?

It is rated for it, against the 6,000 BTU SACC figure and 330 cubic metres an hour of air flow. Large west facing glass, a nine foot ceiling or poor insulation all make a room behave as if it were bigger, so treat 350 sq ft as the ceiling rather than the target.

Is the grey version different inside?

No. Capacity, air flow, modes, refrigerant and weight all match the white version. Only the cabinet finish changes.

Does it have to be drained?

Usually not. It is self-evaporating, so most of the water leaves as vapour through the exhaust hose. In really humid weather more collects than can evaporate, and the supplied 25.5 inch pipe drains that away.

What is the difference between the two BTU figures?

ASHRAE 10,000 BTU comes from a fixed laboratory test and SACC 6,000 BTU is the seasonally adjusted rating. Danby notes SACC is generally lower for any given unit because it reflects real season conditions. Size your room from SACC.
