Description

54 Pint Dehumidifier for 4500 Sq Ft, CSA ETL and DOE Listed, 39 dB, 6 Key Panel, 1.1 Gallon Tank

Three certification listings sit on this model, CSA, ETL and DOE, which is more than most machines in the category carry. Running noise is 39 dB, water removal is 54 pints a day at 95F and 90% RH, 43 at 86F and 80%, and 16 pints on the 2019 DOE test at 65F and 60%.

White dehumidifier with dimension arrows reading 19.5 inches tall, 12 inches wide and 9 inches deep, beside CSA and DOE certification logos, above a blue table giving 16 pints per day at 65F and 60% RH, 43 pints at 86F and 80% RH and 54 pints at 95F and 90% RH

Certification marks and the numbers behind them

CSA is the Canadian electrical safety mark and DOE is the energy listing, and the manufacturer lists an ETL mark alongside them. The table underneath is what the DOE listing produces: 16 pints a day at 65F and 60%, the 2019 test condition. The 54 pint headline is measured at 95F and 90%, and 43 pints sits between the two at 86F and 80%.

Six keys, and each does one thing

Lock, speed, timer, humidity, mode, power. Nothing needs a long press and nothing hides in a menu, which matters on a machine that will sit doing the same job for months. Three modes sit behind the mode key, two fan speeds behind speed, and the target goes anywhere from 30% to 80%.

Hose it, or carry it

The 1.1 gallon tank is realistic to empty once a day in most rooms, and the machine alarms and stops before it can overflow. In a bathroom or a basement running hard, the 3.3 ft hose in the box is the better answer. It drains by gravity, so the far end has to sit lower than the unit.

What you get

Three certification listings

CSA, ETL and DOE are all listed by the manufacturer for this model. CSA is the mark Canadian inspectors recognise.

39 dB running

The manufacturer places it at 39 dB, near the quiet end of its own scale. Quiet enough to leave in a room people use.

Three working modes

Continuously drying for a laundry rack, auto to hold a target and idle, and sleep for overnight running.

Child lock on its own key

A dedicated lock key rather than a hidden combination. The panel freezes until you unlock it.

Auto defrost

Clears frost off the coil in a cool basement so the airflow does not gradually choke off.

Washable mesh filter

Removable and washable. There is no cartridge to reorder, and keeping it clean is what holds performance up.

Recessed handles and four wheels

Two handles set into the cabinet so nothing catches on a doorframe, and universal wheels for the 31 lbs.

Frequently asked questions

Why is the DOE figure 16 pints when the title says 54?

They are the same machine measured in different air. The 54 pint figure is at 95F and 90% relative humidity, 43 pints at 86F and 80%, and 16 pints on the 2019 DOE test at 65F and 60%. The US Department of Energy chose the cooler condition because it reflects a basement. ENERGY STAR publishes a guide showing every model falls by a similar proportion, so compare DOE to DOE.

What is the difference between CSA, ETL and DOE?

CSA and ETL are electrical safety certifications, and CSA is the one Canadian inspectors and insurers recognise. DOE is the United States energy listing, and it is why this model has a 65F rated capacity figure at all. None of them is a performance guarantee, but all three mean the model has been tested to a published standard.

Will it help with condensation on my windows?

Very likely, because window condensation is a direct sign the air holds more moisture than the glass temperature can carry. Health Canada advises running a dehumidifier when moisture is condensing on cold surfaces like window panes, and keeping the home between 30% and 50% relative humidity. Set the machine around 45% and watch the glass.

Does it need a special outlet?

No. It is specified at 115V, 60Hz on a 5.3 ft cord, so a standard grounded Canadian household outlet is correct. Plug it into the wall rather than a light duty extension cord, and avoid sharing the circuit with another large appliance.
