The ring light on the front does more than show humidity. Steady blue, green or red tells you the level, and the same light flashing tells you the machine is defrosting, that air purifying is running, or that the tank is nearly full. Water removal is 32 pints a day at 95F and 90% RH, 25 at 86F and 80%, and 9 on the DOE test.
It stands 20 inches tall, weighs 24 lbs and draws 172W. The manufacturer lists it ETL and DOE certified.
One light, six different messages
Read the legend once and you never need the manual. Steady colour is the humidity: blue below 40%, green between 40% and 60%, red above 60%. Flashing is a status report: blue means it is defrosting, green means the air purifying function is on, and red means the tank is nearly full. That is a lot of information from one ring.
Four modes, and two of them are weather
Most machines give you auto, continuous and sleep. This one splits auto into a sunny setting and a rainy setting, which hold different targets for a dry day and a wet one. Continuous drying runs without a target for a laundry rack. Sleep quietens it for a bedroom. Two fan speeds sit under all four.
Tank or pipe, and the tank tells you first
The 0.5 gallon tank lifts out of the base. When it is nearly full the ring light flashes red, and when it is actually full the machine stops and sounds an alarm, so you get a warning rather than a surprise. For anywhere the machine runs hard, fit the 3.3 ft drain pipe supplied and let it drain by gravity instead.
