Description

150 Pint Dehumidifier with Built-in Pump, 2.4 Gallon Tank, 3 Drainage Options, 45 dB, White

Three separate ways to get the water out is unusual at this size: a 2.4 gallon tank you can empty by hand, a 23.5 inch gravity hose, or the built-in pump with its own 16.4 ft hose. Water removal is 150 pints a day at 95F and 90% RH, 116 at 86F and 80%, and 50 pints on the 2019 DOE test at 65F and 60%.

The drainage plan changes when you move it

What usually goes wrong

A machine bought for the basement gets dragged into the garage one summer and up to a spare room the next. Each of those rooms has a different answer to where the water goes, and a dehumidifier that only does one of them ends up back on the tank.

How this one answers it

It carries all three options in the box. Tank in a bedroom, gravity hose where there is a floor drain, and the pump with its 16.4 ft hose anywhere the drain is higher than the machine. Both hoses are supplied, so you are not buying anything to change your mind.

This is a large machine in a domestic shape: 14.5 by 11 by 24 inches, 39.5 lbs, on four universal wheels with handles on the sides and a handle on the tank itself. It draws 9.8A, which is a serious load for a household circuit, so treat the outlet you choose as its own.

Three photos of the white dehumidifier labelled manual drainage with a 2.4 gallon water tank pulled out, pump drainage with a 16.4 ft pump drain hose, and gravity drainage with a 23.5 inch drain hose running into a planter

Pick the drainage that suits the room

The tank holds 2.4 gallons and lifts out with its own handle. The 23.5 inch gravity hose works where there is a drain below the machine, and a standard garden hose can be fitted instead if you need more reach. The pump is the useful one in a Canadian basement: it sends water up and out through a 16.4 ft hose to a laundry tub or a window well. Both hoses are in the carton.

Five things the panel is doing quietly

Three fan speeds let you trade noise against speed. The 24 hour timer runs it on cheap hours or stops it before you go to bed. Child lock stops the settings being changed. Auto defrost keeps the coil clear in a cool basement, and memory restart brings everything back after a power cut. The display shows the humidity the machine is reading now.

Two modes, one small trick to remember

Normal mode holds the target you pick between 30% and 80%, then idles. Continuous mode ignores the target and runs without stopping, which is what a flooded room or a very wet spring needs. Getting into it is not obvious: hold the minus button until CO shows on the display. Write that on a sticker inside the tank lid and you will never hunt for the manual again.

The bits you touch every week

The mesh filter slides out for rinsing, and a clogged one is the usual reason a machine like this slows down. The waterline strip on the front tells you how full the tank is without pulling it out. Recessed handles on the sides and four 360 degree wheels handle the 39.5 lbs, and the tank has a handle of its own so you are not carrying it in both arms.

What you get

Built-in condensate pump

Comes with its own 16.4 ft pump drain hose, so the water can go up to a sink or out a window rather than needing a drain below the unit.

Three published capacity ratings

150 pints a day at 95F and 90% RH, 116 pints at 86F and 80%, and 50 pints on the 2019 DOE test at 65F and 60%.

A 2.4 gallon tank with a handle

Large enough that manual emptying is realistic, with a waterline display on the front and auto shutoff plus an alarm when it fills.

Three fan speeds

Run it hard in an empty basement and quiet in a room you use. The published noise figure is 45 dB.

Auto defrost

Clears frost off the coil in a cool room instead of letting it build until the airflow stops.

Memory restart and child lock

It returns to your settings after a power cut, and the panel locks so nobody changes them by accident.

Garden hose compatible

The gravity outlet takes a 27 mm garden hose if the supplied 23.5 inch hose is too short for where you want the water to go.

Certified and listed

The manufacturer states this model complies with ETL and DOE, which is why a DOE test figure is published alongside the headline number.

How it compares

Three ways of handling a very damp basement, compared on what you have to do after the first day.

Who is this perfect for?

Basements that flood or seep

50 pints a day on the DOE test is a lot of water, and continuous mode will run without stopping. The pump means you are not carrying any of it up the stairs.

Households that move the machine around

Tank, gravity hose and pump are all in the box, so the same unit works in a bedroom, a garage and a basement without another purchase.

Anyone drying a large area

A unit this size is for an open basement, a workshop or a whole floor. In a single bedroom it will hit target and idle, and a smaller machine would cost less to run.

Rooms that stay above about 10C

It is a compressor machine with auto defrost, which suits a cool basement. A space that drops near freezing calls for a desiccant unit instead.

Frequently asked questions

Why 150 pints in the name and 50 pints in the specification?

They are the same machine at different test conditions. 150 pints a day is measured at 95F and 90% relative humidity. 50 pints a day is the 2019 DOE test at 65F and 60%, which the US Department of Energy adopted because it reflects a basement. ENERGY STAR publishes a guide to the change across the industry. Use the DOE number when you compare models, and the 95F number only against other listings quoting the same condition.

How do I put it into continuous mode?

Press and hold the minus button until CO appears on the display. In that mode it ignores the humidity target and runs constantly, which is what you want after a leak or during a very wet spell. Press the plus or minus buttons normally to go back to a set target between 30% and 80%.

Can I run the pump hose into a sink upstairs?

The pump hose supplied is 16.4 ft long. The manufacturer does not publish a maximum lift height for this model, so measure your run and keep the rise modest, and make sure the far end is secured so it cannot fall out of the sink. If there is a floor drain lower than the machine, the gravity hose is simpler and quieter.

Does it need a dedicated circuit?

It is a 115V, 60Hz appliance drawing 9.8A total input current, which is most of a standard 15A circuit on its own. A normal grounded Canadian outlet is correct, but do not share that circuit with a freezer, a heater or a shop tool, and plug it into the wall rather than an extension cord.
