The frame is 85 inches long and 63 wide, with an 80 by 61 inch deck inside it for a Queen mattress. The headboard reaches 38 inches with 8 of those above the deck, and the footboard stands 17.5 inches. Take the 85 against the wall and the 17.5 against anything at the foot of the bed.
Wood frame, padded panels
The two fabric panels sit inside a wooden surround, padded with high density sponge. That is the practical compromise on a wooden bed: the frame stays timber, but the part your shoulders meet is soft. Above the panels are open wooden slats.

Twelve plywood slats across the deck on thick support legs, with the corners rounded rather than left square. The deck is embedded between the rails, so the mattress cannot slide toward either end no matter how the bed is used.
