How it opens

A fabric strap at the foot gives you something to pull, and two gas struts take the weight the rest of the way and let it back down slowly rather than dropping it. Two stoppers hold the mattress on the deck while it is up at an angle.

This is not a drawer. The compartment runs the full 82 by 60 inches of the deck at 9.5 inches deep, which is a different kind of space from four shallow drawers. The manufacturer counts it as four suitcases, ten quilts or twenty pairs of shoes, and the deck closes over all of it dust free.
